Colleen Coble and Rick Acker hit this one out of the park.
The artificial intelligence angle is both unique and timely. A beta chatbox loaded with the contents of Katrina Foster's deceased husband's social media, pictures, emails, texts, and more allows it to sound eerily like Jason when Katrina communicates with it.
I know people who still listen to saved voice messages from loved ones just to hear their voice again. While I'm skeptical about the mental health implications about using AI to impersonate a loved one, it makes for an intriguing story.
The family dynamics in the story rang true to life—messy and complicated. I especially enjoyed the deliciously flawed cast of relatable characters.
Murder, corporate fraud, ruthless hitmen, and a missing Satoshi egg containing a code to claim a cryptocurrency prize worth thirty million dollars keep tension crackling from start to finish. The betrayals run as deep as the routes along the rock faces Katrina climbs.
Since I live on the Oregon Coast, close to the Redwoods, I appreciated the spot-on descriptions of the Pacific coastline.
If you enjoy suspense with clean romance, you'll love this book.
I Think I Was Murdered is available on Amazon.
