Sweet Tea and Suspects by Jann Franklin - Review

Sweet Tea and Suspects, a new release by Jann Franklin, reminds me of the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich, except with a G rating and a mature and adorable main character. It's like a cozy mystery for those who prefer their crime solving with dash of southern charm and a sprinkle of grandma's secret recipe.

After passing her Private Investigator exam, Evangeline Delafose apprentices with her former high school buddy, Shorty. But wait, Ev races to outsmart her own little brother, Nate, a veteran police detective, in this game of sibling rivalry and crime solving madness in Graisseville, Louisiana. Let the investigation begin!

Ev could probably earn a PhD in sarcasm with smart retorts like this with her brother, “Okay, you’re now saying that Jen had an accomplice? Was it her husband? Or maybe one of her kids? The younger one, James, always struck me as kind of sketchy. He’s what now? Five, six years old? Wow, they start young these days.”

The harder Ev tries to stay out of small-town drama, the more she gets pulled in. The quirky Graisseville characters could give your favorite sitcom cast a run for their money. If you’re a fan of cozy mysteries, pour yourself a glass of sweet tea or the devil’s bathwater as Shorty refers to unsweet tea, grab a copy of Sweet Tea and Suspects, and get prepared to be entertained.

Sweet Tea and Suspects is available on Amazon.
